THE Australian Chamber of Fruit and Vegetables Industries Limited has a new business name: Fresh Markets Australia (FMA).
Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) will become the new face and name of the Australian Chamber.
The rebranding is a significant change for the organisation and not something the board has taken lightly.
The idea behind the name change was to modernise the look and in particular highlight the role of the fresh produce marketing sector in Australia.
FMA’s mission, aims and values remain – they will continue to represent the six fresh produce Market Chambers and its members nationally.
FMA represents each of the six market chambers, which themselves are organisations which represent the fruit and vegetable wholesalers located in each of Australia’s six central markets (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Newcastle).
In total, the organisation represents in excess of 430 market wholesaling businesses.
Market wholesalers are involved in the sale of some 50-60 per cent of the fresh produce sold across Australia in servicing the requirements of fruit and vegetable retailers, secondary wholesalers/provedores, foodservice industry businesses, processors, exporters and the public.
More than 15,000 growers supply to businesses within the central market system.
The total turnover of businesses in the Central Markets exceeds some $7 billion annually.
