IT is an event which has become a “must-attend” by those within Queensland horticulture circles, and it all happens in the town of Bundaberg.
The Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers Cooperative Ltd (BFVG) Biennial Industry Gala Dinner, to be held on October 11, is on again this year promising an evening of entertainment, food, guests and more.
Production horticulture businesses, industry stakeholders and guests from around Australia will converge on the Bundaberg Civic Centre yet again for the event which is held every two years.
BFVG executive officer Peter Hockings said the BFVG Gala Dinner had a long-standing tradition of celebrating the importance, diversity and innovation of the production horticulture industry through entertainment, fine-dining and networking.
“Tickets for the dinner are selling well however this is no surprise as the event is typically well attended by industry stakeholders from across Australia,” Mr Hockings said.
“Our last event in 2012 was proclaimed by many as the best ever gala dinner. While we are not trying to top that benchmark, we are putting in an enormous effort to maintain the high standard set and truly celebrate this great Industry - and the people that drive the Industry forward.”
BFVG is a not-for-profit grower-based cooperative, so all contributions made toward the Gala Dinner help create this night to remember - including financial sponsors, fresh produce donated for the menu, and prize donations.
“I sincerely thank all the businesses we have received significant contributions from to date, greatly assisting us with their generous support,” Mr Hockings said.
“In particular I thank our Ruby Sponsor Woolworths; Sapphire Sponsor Perfection Fresh Australia; Opal Sponsors Bayer Crop Sciences and Steritech; Amethyst Sponsors SunWater, Montague Fresh and Simpson Farms; and our eight Friends of Farming Families Sponsors.
“Then of course there are currently seven Farming Family Sponsors that have chosen to set themselves apart from others by highlighting their business to Australia’s Industry through this event.
“Once again our local caterers have created a delicious fine-dining menu incorporating the diverse tastes from our region’s quality, fresh produce.
“The Bundaberg Youth Orchestra will help create an atmosphere to remember, while The Three Waiters will provide the main entertainment of the night.
“Joining the region’s growers in this industry celebration are businesses from throughout the Australian horticulture supply chain including retail chains, central market agents, many Industry Support Businesses and guests from across Australia.”
