LOVE is in the air for West Australian stonefruit growers, and hopefully consumers.
The WA stonefruit industry launched its summer campaign under a "Summer Romance" theme at the Canning Vale Markets this week.
The Summer Romance brand will go into wholesale markets and retail stores to allow wholesale buyers and shoppers to easily identify and purchase locally-grown fruit.
The branding covers peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums and cherries.
Campaign spokesman Brett DelSimone said consumers will be given a clear choice to buy locally-grown produce and fall in love with WA Stone Fruit.
"It will be rolled out across wholesale markets and at point of sale so buyers can identify the freshest, locally-grown produce," Mr DelSimone said.
The WA stonefruit season runs from October to April with fruit coming from Carnarvon, Gingin, Perth Hills and Manjimup-Donnybrook.
"As each variety is in season for a short time there is a fresh, new variety at green grocers and supermarkets each week," Mr DelSimone said.
WA growers have also joined forces with the independent retailers belonging to the Great Greengrocer campaign.
The Great Greengrocer is a marketing campaign managed by the Perth Market Authority promoting locally-produced fresh produce to the community through independent retailers.
