WITH summer just around the corner, our thoughts turn to refreshing salads and cold drinks, and one of the most versatile summer fruits to grace our fruit bowls and fridges is the tasty lime.
One Queensland lime orchardist who is run off his feet every summer is Phil Oliver.
Before Phil started treating his highly saline bore water with the DELTAwater solutions bore water treatment system, things weren’t looking so good for his business with poor yields, leaf burn and a drop in quality.
Soon after installing his unit he noticed the benefits.
“I immediately started seeing results with new shoots coming through the branches that were still alive around the base,” he said.
“And then within four weeks of watering, massive flowering started and since then it’s never stopped.”
As the quality of his bore water became poorer, Phil saw he needed to look at further water treatment options and installed one of DELTA’s custom made Heavy Duty SL units, designed to treat water that was previously untreatable due to extremely high mineral content.
“I’m very happy with the DELTA technology,” he said.
“People need to know there’s something out there that will give results with their water problems, whether it’s in the house, in the garden or for farmers like me: So I’m definitely recommending it – because it works.”
Another fruit and vegetable grower who has turned to DELTA is fourth generation award-winning horticulturalist Anthony Rehbein.
He grows watermelons, potatoes and ginger in fields around the Hummock area, halfway between Bundaberg and Bargara.
Much of the produce goes to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and the main retail chains and independent grocers up and down the east coast of Australia.
Anthony contacted DELTA to solve problems caused by a steady decline in the quality of his irrigation water.
He was experiencing a drop in the quality and size of his produce and the salty irrigation water, particularly for summer crops, was causing significant leaf burn.
He said the DELTA system resulted in an immediate and remarkable change in the produce, and highly recommends the product to others battling problems caused by salty water.
“Within two weeks of installing the system, our crops started to transform and come to life,” he said.
“There’s been a huge reduction in leaf burn and we have noticed a size increase in our commodities, which in turn has resulted in an overall increase in yield.
“There has been a remarkable change in the quality of our product.”
Made and manufactured in Newcastle, DELTAwater solutions products are environmentally friendly, require no maintenance and are pollution and chemical free.
Last year the company – founded more than 20 years ago by Alex and Dianne Panov – was named Hunter Region Business of the Year, Most Innovative Business and Best Marketed Manufacturing Company.
