THE annual Camp Quality Cherry Ball raised more than $234,241 for South Australian children who are living with cancer.
The South Australian horticulture industry came together to show their support, with 575 people attending the event held at Adelaide Convention Centre.
The famous box of cherries was auctioned off to the newly crowned Cherry Kings and Queens from the Mitolo and Russo families for a whopping $36,000.
Various other items went under the hammer including music memorabilia and pallets of fresh produce.
Camp Quality SA spokesperson Heather Keele said the generosity of the Adelaide Produce Markets was always outstanding and “this year was no exception”.
“The funds raised are pivotal in allowing us to help create a better life for every child living with cancer in South Australia by building family optimism and resilience,” she said.
Cherry Ball co-founders, Derrick Patterson and Frank Bueti praised the industry for coming together to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause.
“Laughter truly is the best medicine and we are glad to be able to help Camp Quality provide fun therapy to all the children and their families living with cancer,” said Derrick and Frank from the Adelaide Produce Markets.
Cherry Ball 2016 was hosted by Fabien Clark, while entertainment included dance performances from Bellarouge with a 1920’s Gatsby Theme and over 120 items in the silent auction.
