HIGHLY unqualified "bushy" and rural scribe, the Ringer, has agreed to provide weather analysis for Good Fruit & Vegetables on a weekly basis.
The rogue forecaster will present his take on the weather, entitled "Weather or Not", each Friday morning on the GFV Facebook page.
Filmed in glorious technology of yesteryear, VHS, the video clips will go for between 20 - 30 seconds each and may or may not present weather information relevant to viewers.
Speaking on his mobile telephone whilst aloft in a pandanus palm having been stalked by a crocodile up an undisclosed creek in the Northern Territory, the Ringer said he was looking forward to presenting not only informative diagrams but also his opinion on what the weather should be doing.
"I'll certainly tell you if I think rain is heading your way but I think a weather reporter should be doing more than just pointing at pretty cartoon clouds," the Ringer said.
"He should give a bit of insight into why something is happening. Or failing that, just a rant on some issue he's been thinking about, like the price of fencing wire. Seen that lately? Atrocious."
The first episode appeared last week with the latest one posted this morning.
Good Fruit & Vegetables editor, Ashley Walmsley, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the Ringer, said he had no idea how the concept got approved.
"Each Thursday night I find a hessian bag hanging off my mailbox with a video cassette inside containing his latest effort," Mr Walmsley said.
"We watch it, upload it and then I usually watch whatever else is on the rest of the secondhand tape. Last time it was an episode of Rafferty's Rules."
The Ringer encouraged both bush and "skinny-jeans wearing, kale-munching, headphone-obsessed city" folk alike, to like or follow the Good Fruit & Vegetables Facebook page to ensure they caught the wrap each Friday morning.
He also admitted he wasn't entirely sure what Facebook was but believed it had "something to do with a computer machine".
