IN a growing trend for online food shopping, a NSW couple has launched their version of an internet farmers’ market.
Husband and wife team Lena and Andrew Greig from Bundanoon have put their detailed knowledge of farmers’ markets to good use, launching the new site, The Larder Door.
The site is an online grocery store that stocks market produce from seasonal and sustainable Australian micro-producers.
The Greigs have travelled hundreds of kilometres for a good market and understand first hand just how time consuming it can be to find a fantastic range of artisan and small batch products.
The Larder Door enables market enthusiasts to shop at farmer’s markets across Australia without having to physically attend them.
Foodies can select their own produce from the online store, with the added reassurance that every single product and food producer has not just passed Lena and Andrew’s taste test but meets The Larder Door’s Australian, ethical and micro-producers criteria.
They also offer five product Taster Boxes, featuring curated seasonal products for $49 including shipping.
Product boxes on offer include the Monthly Taster Box, Vegan Box, Gluten Free Box, Chutney Lovers Box and the Muesli Lovers Box.
Currently working with more than 40 small batch producers, The Larder Door provides Australia wide access to the some of the finest farm to plate products including Wits End Pulses (Victoria), InnaMuse (NSW), Golden Whisk (WA), Juanita's Kitchen (Victoria), Boobs Nut Butter (Qld) and the Tasmanian Food and Wine Conservatory (Tasmania).
“We will go a long way for a good market, because we believe that good food, locally sourced and made with love, honestly tastes better,” Lena said.
“We know we're not alone in that belief because there are new markets popping up around this beautiful country.
“Most of our producers have a presence at a couple of markets in their local areas and some also have online stores, but none of them are available in large chain stores.
“One thing they all have in common is that they put their hearts and souls into making the best products you can get. They also taste absolutely incredible.”
