MOUNT Barker vegetable grower Scott Samwell has been named the Ausveg SA grower of the year for his work at Eastbrook Farms and commitment to the industry.
Mr Samwell, who grows Brussels sprouts, was one of six award recipients acknowledged for their contribution to the state’s vegetable and horticulture industry at the Ausveg SA and William Buck Vegetable Industry Awards for Excellence, announced in Adelaide this month.
His time dedicated to the industry, participation in field days and hosting researchers was recognised.

“Whether it’s taking part in field days, hosting researchers or being a driving force behind industry research and development,” Mr Brooke-Barnett said.
“Scott has spearheaded initiatives like soil health trials and new pest management techniques that have taken his family business from strength to strength and turned it into a key player in the national industry.”
The young grower of the year award went to Daniel Quattrocchi, Monika’s Organics, Golden Grove.
