WESTERN Australian vegetable growers were given an insight into new leafy vegetable lines entering the market at the vegetablesWA Leafy Variety Trial at Gingin earlier this month.
Held at the Loose Leaf Lettuce Company, the day was hosted by the Dobra family.
New varieties of iceberg, multileaf, cos, mini cos, baby gem cos and coral head lettuce were on display, as were spinach, rocket and baby leaf lettuce types.
The day was supported by primary sponsor Bayer, and other sponsors Seminis, Rijk Zwaan and South Pacific Seeds.
Soil scientists Dr Doris Blaesing and Dr Len Tesoriero gave presentations on their insights into soil health and wealth.
The organisers thanked all those that contributed to the day and said there were plans already underway for a similar event next year.
