CUTTING-edge technology in the packaging world was on display in Australia at the inaugural Orora Innovation Expo18 at Melbourne last week.
Under the theme “delivering tomorrow’s packaging innovation today”, the four day event was specially designed for Orora customers to showcase the latest packaging innovations and high-tech machinery from across Orora’s global business.
The expo was held in Orora’s Specialty Packaging facility at Oakleigh.

The event included a tour of operating machinery, some of which was in Australia for the very first time.
The tour featured Orora’s recently installed EFI Nozomi C18000 digital printer, which is the first of its kind in Australia and offers a revolutionary printing service for corrugated customers.
It delivers magazine quality imagery directly onto corrugated board at ultra-high-speed, significantly improving speed-to-market.
Also on display was the Highcon Euclid IIIC laser cutter, the world’s first production speed digital cutting and creasing machine, which helps dispense with traditional die-cutters.
Orora managing director and chief executive officer, Nigel Garrard said innovation was a key strategic focus for Orora.
“The Expo offers an unparalleled opportunity to showcase the investments we have made to help our customers stay one step ahead of their competition,” Mr Garrard said.
“By continually investing in our business, we are able to provide customers with total packaging solutions along the entire value chain, from design to manufacturing, and everything in between.
“This is one of the reasons we increased the Orora Global Innovation Initiative by $30 million to $75 million, as it fosters a culture of innovation within the business and supports investment in the latest machinery, enabling us to develop advanced packaging solutions that will directly benefit our customers.”
The event featured executive presentations on packaging trends and insights, interactive displays and live machinery demonstrations.
