Corteva Agriscience, the new agriculture division of DowDuPont, has announced the 10 nominees for the 2018 Hort Connections Young Grower of the Year Award.
And the nominees are:

- Jake Shadbolt (Scotties Point Farm)
- Nathan Barolli (Barolli Orchards)
The Young Grower of the Year Award will be presented as part of the 2018 National Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on Wednesday, June 20, during the Hort Connections conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
The award honours young growers who demonstrate commitment to innovation, their communities and enhancing agriculture.

Award nominee, Mitchell East, a 25-year-old tropical fruit and vegetable grower from Manjimup in Western Australia said he was pleased to be in the running for this year’s award.
“I’m happy to be one of the ten nominees for 2018. It’s an unexpected surprise to be recognised in this way,” Mr East said.
“The award is important as it showcases the prospects and leadership opportunities in the horticulture sector for the younger generation.”
Oliva Ryan, an agronomist from Victoria and fellow award nominee, echoed Mr East’s sentiments.
“I’m delighted to be nominated. The next generation of Australian growers needs to come through and the Young Grower of the Year award helps recognise the contributions we make to keep the industry going forward,” she said.
Ausveg chief executive officer, James Whiteside, said the Australian horticulture industry needs more young people involved.
“It’s important that we continue to recognise the achievements of young growers, such as our 10 2018 nominees, to ensure we foster the next generation of leaders,” he said.
Corteva Agriscience marketing manager for horticulture and insecticides, Nick Koch the company is proud to continue its support for the Young Grower of the Year Award.
