A POPULAR brand of frozen vegetables has been recalled and consumers urged not to eat the product amid fears it could contain a deadly bacteria.
Metcash has recalled Black & Gold’s one-kilogram mixed vegetables from IGA, Campbells and independent grocers as the product may be contaminated with listeria.
Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems.
Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a refund, the food authority said.
The recall is for all stock across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
In July, supermarkets including Woolworths, IGA and ALDI pulled packets of sweetcorn and frozen vegetable products from shelves.
Own-brand products for ALDI, including Market Fare frozen vegetables, were among those affected as well as bags of Essentials snap frozen mixed vegetables and Bell Farms steam veggie carrot, corn and broccoli bags, which are sold at Woolworths.
The food authority recommended consumers who are concerned about their health seek medical advice.
