Sculpture in the Paddock 2018

Now in its fifth year, the event is moving locations from Cooma Cottage in Yass to Shaw Vineyard Estate in Murrumbateman, allowing for more art, entertainment, wine and food.

There’s something for everyone at this year’s Sculpture in the Paddock, which goes from September 22 - October 7, running over the October long weekend (Saturday, September 29 - Monday, October 1).

Whichever day you choose, you can settle in with a picnic blanket, explore the sculptures and entertainment at leisure, and enjoy food from the on-site restaurant Olleyville and wine from Shaw Vineyard Estate.

Seat yourself up by the winery and take in the view over the sculptures, while keeping an eye on little ones as they roam the open grounds.

The terrain is also easily accessible by wheelchair.

There’s the option to head inside for lunch or dinner at Olleyville - just be sure to book ahead - and to do an official tasting inside Shaw Vineyards’ new, architecturally impressive cellar door.

Sculpture in the Paddock secretary and event organiser Sophie Peer said, "We look forward to welcoming families, our Yass supporters and people from afar for a terrific day out with art, food and wine."

Head to Sculpture in the Paddock on the weekend and you could also be in with the chance of winning a helicopter ride over the exhibition and surrounding areas with Canberra Helicopters.

To enter, attendees will need to text the oversized number that’s set to appear as one of the sculptures, created by Roger Buckman, with the word ‘helicopter’. A prize will be drawn every Saturday and Sunday.

This year, there will be more art than ever before too, with all the impressive large sculptures outside, plus a small sculpture exhibition on the balcony of the cellar door.

The mixed mediums and varying sizes will not only provide an interesting attraction but will also give prospective buyers more to consider.

Among 2018 exhibitors is Murrumbateman artist Michael le Grand, considered among the best sculptures nationally. Tobias Bennett, winner of Sculpture in the Paddock 2016, returns this year as well with two large bunnies constructed from steel.

There is a total prize pool of $30,000 up for grabs for artists this year.

This year’s entry costs $10. Yass residents will receive a voucher through their door for free family admission.
