BUNDABERG'S rise as the macadamia capital of Australia has been further reinforced with the industry body appointing a dedicated support officer to the region.
Angela Williams has taken up the role as the member support officer for the Australian Macadamia Society (AMS).
Ms Williams comes to the AMS following a successful period as manager of Canegrowers Isis and has an extensive background in engagement, stakeholder relationships, regional business support and advocacy.
She has also served on the board of the Sugar R&D Corporations, worked in the Departments of Natural Resources and Primary Industries and has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Communications) from the University of Queensland.
Ms Williams will start the new role in late May and will be based in Bundaberg, with a primary focus to provide local, practical support and assistance to AMS member businesses in Bundaberg.

AMS chief executive officer Jolyon Burnett said she will also engage with other Queensland AMS members.
"Her skills are well suited to the position, and she will be aiming to meet as many members as possible when she starts," Mr Burnett said.
Mr Burnett said Angela will be supported by a regional advisory panel made up of local members and industry representatives.
"Angela and the panel will work to understand the regional issues affecting AMS members and to develop solutions and programs to address them.
"We encourage members to contact Angela with their ideas and challenges."
The AMS is calling for expressions of interest from Bundaberg members wishing to be considered for the regional advisory panel.
