PINEAPPLE harvesting is in full swing in with Pinata Farms pumping out pines to help satisfy the public’s warmer weather cravings.
The farming company’s pineapple production is reaching its peak as consumption expands at this time of year as well.
The Mareeba Gold pineapple variety is being harvested at its Wamuran farm daily until mid-November when production moves north to its Mareeba property where it will harvest its first crop.
Planting is also underway in earnest at its Darwin farm, helping to ensure a regular flow of pineapples.
Piñata Farms has 10 hectares already under cultivation and will plant another 10 before mid-November for harvest in 18 months' time.
Piñata Farms’ first official harvest of Top End pineapples, planted in 2013, is scheduled for early February next year.
The company is forecasting a healthy late summer crop following the crop’s excellence performance.
