SYDNEY Markets has revealed the finalists of the 2016 Fresh Awards.
Its refreshed program of awards recognise best practice and innovation of small and medium businesses across various sectors of the fresh produce industry in NSW and the ACT.
The finalists will vie for the winning titles across a number of award categories including Greengrocer and Florist of the Year Awards, Fruit & Vegetable and Flower Grower of the Year Awards and a new category, which celebrates the work of Australian bloggers.
The winners will be announced at the inaugural Fresh Awards event to be held on July 20 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
Featuring Chris Bath as master of ceremonies and a special performance from 2016 Euro vision runner up Dami Im, the awards will shine a light on the achievements of local business owners, talent and the fresh industry as whole.
Sydney Markets Limited CEO Brad Latham said the Fresh Awards will be a great event.
“The Fresh Awards fuses all elements of the fresh industry together, making it an industry first event,” Mr Latham said.
“Sydney Markets is proud to support and celebrate the work of NSW and ACT based greengrocers, florists and bloggers.
“The Fresh Awards program recognises retail excellence, product quality and customer service, which is mutually beneficial to retailers and shoppers across NSW and ACT.”
The Sydney Markets receives fresh produce and flowers from about 20,000 growers Australia-wide with the wholesale operations supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to more than two-thirds of the Australian population.
The Markets has more than 500 local growers selling their produce and flowers weekly to greengrocers and florists.
