THE importance of women in the horticulture sector will be celebrated as part of International Women's Day next month.
Grower profile and marketing company, Divine Fruits, will hold its Women of Horticulture event at the Moda Portside Wharf, Brisbane on Saturday, March 9 which is the day after International Women's Day.
The event aims to celebrate and acknowledge the regional growers and their contribution to the industry.
Event coordinator, Mira Milich, said the event promises to mix fun and networking.
"We'll learn about the importance of women in the horticulture sector and mingle over sumptuous regional food, beverages, entertainment and special guests," Ms Milich said.
One of the drawcards will be celebrity chef, Javier Codina's executive chef, Stephen Nardo and his team, who will create a menu incorporating regional produce.
Other guests include the Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie, plus guests from the South Burnett Regional Council, independent greengrocers and other horticulture industry women.
While the event is proving popular, tickets are still available at $125.
This includes canapés and sparkling upon arrival, a two-course meal and a three hour drinks package.
