THE apple industry has wasted no time in coordinating a recovery effort in the wake of the recent bushfires throughout various growing regions.
Members of Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL) have met impacted growers over the past few weeks and visited all fire-torn regions.
The organisation is currently developing a detailed program to present to the government on costs and the next steps needed to rebuild the industry.
APAL chief executive officer, Phil Turnbull, said it will be important to convey the correct message to politicians.

"Over the next period we will be consulting with the regions to make sure we are representing their interests and needs effectively to government," Mr Turnbull said.
"In addition to the bushfires, we are still prioritising the massive impact of drought across Australia."
Prime minister Scott Morrison and deputy Michael McCormack met with Batlow growers on January 22 to discuss ways to support the industry and assist with the development of an Apple Industry Bushfire Recovery Plan for regions impacted by bushfires so that the federal government can better assist fire-impacted growers.
The clean-up continues for many growers as they asses their properties and begin work to reinstate infrastructure to secure the current crop and the surviving trees.
APAL encouraged affected growers to explore the various grants available.
