The company is then able to accept the used product back to recycle for re-use, either for the same customer or for another use.
Corflute is often the substrate of choice for durable, hardy packaging. For a number of customers, the move to Corflute packaging, a twin wall PP sheet product, has led to significant reduction in supply chain losses through spoilage.
One example has been broccoli, which after being packed in Corflute boxes is passed through hydro-cooling that has resulted in near zero knockouts compared to fibre-based packaging solutions.
Being plastic, it is totally waterproof, so no soggy material collapses leading to product loss during transport.
It remains fully recyclable post use compared to the hybrid plastic film coated cardboard boxes.
Furthermore, the innovation of Corex 'Sealed Edge' technology can be incorporated in designs to prevent water ingress into the twin wall flute during Hydro-Cooling.
This also reduces water leakage at the point of sale, protection against contamination and improving thermal insulation along the supply chain.
Corex also offers other plastic substrates including solid PP/HDPE and cuspation products that meet the broad needs of the market while delivering consistent high quality.
Approved food contact grade utilising recycled materials are readily available that are substitutable for virgin raw materials and mildew resistant.
When it's useful life is over all Corex product is accepted for recovery and designed to be fully recycled within it's Corex Recycling Division.
In fact, Corex want all the plastic material they can for recovery due to the significantly lower energy footprint compared to using virgin materials while supporting the 'circular economy'.
The recycling plant provides the stability for the company to source materials suitable for the product applications while offering customers stability in the product pricing and meeting brand owners' sustainable business practices.
Whatever a customer needs to transport, Corex has an answer, with large knock down bulk containers (IBC's) to simple one trip exotic fruit trays.
In just a few days the company can develop and design versatile, stylish packs with a variety of board colours and vibrant printing that will boost a company's image.
