TARALGA excelled again in 2019 as an olive oil production region.
At the 2019 Australian International Olive Oil Awards, Hannaford Olive Oil from Taralga was awarded the Best Mild Olive Oil in Australia.
This is the third time in four years that Hannaford Olive Oil has received an award at the Australian International Olive Oil Awards.
In 2018, Hannaford Olive Oil from Taralga was recognised as the best olive oil produced in NSW and the ACT.

"It is almost unbelievable that our extra virgin olive oil has been recognised at an international level as the best mild extra virgin olive oil produced in Australia," David Hannaford said.
"In prior years we were recognised as producing the second best olive oil.
"It is great for this region that we have achieved the award for the nation's best mild extra virgin produced in Australia.
"It is very good news that the Southern Tablelands region is being recognised for the production of high quality cold climate olive oil.
"Clearly, cold climate olives from this region have a very promising future."
The Hannaford Olive Grove is planted south of Taralga and the olives are processed by White Chapel Grove at Colo Vale.
The Australian International Olive Oil Awards attracted entries from across Australia as well as from a number of overseas olive oil producer.
The awards are determined each year by a panel of national and international olive oil experts.
The judge's comments about the Hannaford Olive Oil were:
- "Spicy, chocolate, vanilla, pear and almond meal on the nose.
- "Excellent transfer to the palate. Clean and spicy flavours of star anise, ginger and nutmeg.
- "An elegant oil with good length and a late warm ginger nut biscuit finish."
